“Introducing OpenCloud 1.0: A New Open-Source Option to Microsoft SharePoint and Others”
Berlin, Germany – OpenCloud GmbH has announced the release of their first full, installable version of OpenCloud, a modern open-source solution for file management, file sharing, and content collaboration. This release comes just a few weeks after the operational launch of OpenCloud and offers a high-performance, GDPR-compliant alternative to proprietary solutions such as Microsoft SharePoint, Google Drive, and Dropbox.
Developed in the programming language Go, OpenCloud boasts an innovative cloud-native architecture and is licensed under Apache 2.0 and AGPL-3.0, making it a transparent and digitally sovereign solution for IT infrastructures in Europe.
Version 1.0 of OpenCloud includes advanced features such as secure and scalable file storage solutions, Collabora Online integration for a comprehensive web office solution, and collaboration tools for real-time editing. It also offers detailed user and permissions management, resource-efficient file synchronization, and user-friendly file sharing features.
OpenCloud is inviting the open-source community to test the first rolling release version and provide feedback to further improve the product. More information on how to participate can be found on their website.
In addition to the release of version 1.0, OpenCloud will also be launching various enterprise services in March 2025, including support packages for enterprise customers. This release will mark the official launch of the OpenCloud commercial offering with a professional services level of product maturity.
OpenCloud is part of the Heinlein Gruppe, a company that has been providing secure and digitally sovereign IT infrastructures throughout Europe for over 30 years. Along with OpenTalk and mailbox.org, OpenCloud is one of the three pillars of the Heinlein Gruppe.
