Bristol Walk Fest Kicks Off on May 1 – Just Around the Corner!

Bristol, UK – The highly anticipated Bristol Walk Fest is set to take place from 1-31 May, offering a jam-packed schedule of events for walkers of all levels. With something happening every day of the month, this festival is not one to miss.

Kicking off on Thursday 1st May, the festival will begin with an inspiring launch event at Arup. Local heroes, who champion the benefits of walking for mental health, will be speaking at the event. Among the speakers are Taylor Moore, Bristol Rovers player and ambassador for 5k Your Way mental health support, Helen Cox, Bristol Rovers assistant coach and Rebound with Rovers mental health group, Claire Allen, who walked 4,000 miles around GB raising £25k for homelessness charities, and Orla Hennessy, founder of Girls Who Walk Bristol, tackling loneliness among young women.

To add to the excitement, Bristol Walking Alliance, in collaboration with Bristol Ramblers, will be leading an interactive walk focused on the healthiness of urban streets. The walk will take place before the launch event, from 6.00-6.45pm, starting and ending at the launch venue.

With over 400 walks available between 1 and 31 May, Bristol Walk Fest boasts 77 different walk providers leading 150+ unique walks. The festival’s director, Karen Lloyd, expresses her excitement for the event, stating, “Bristol Walk Fest is a great chance to discover something new about the city, explore a new area, or try walking for the first time. With a choice of free walks every single day of the month, you’re bound to find something to pique your interest!”

Printed programmes for the festival are now available in libraries and community centres throughout Bristol. The festival’s website is also regularly updated with new walks, making it worth exploring online for the latest information.

Walks are categorized by nature and wildlife, art, history, and architecture, health and wellbeing, walking sports, and walking for pleasure. Walks can also be searched by difficulty level, from easy to challenging, and accessibility needs, such as wheelchair-friendly, visually-impaired, and family-friendly.
