CRI Expands Its Game Business Worldwide at an Accelerated Pace

Tokyo-based CRI Middleware Co., Ltd. (CRI) is making strides in expanding its global game business through three key initiatives.

One of the company’s latest developments is the addition of support for the next-generation codec AV1 in its popular “CRI Sofdec®” video playback middleware. This new feature is expected to improve compression performance and reduce latency, ultimately reducing user drop-off rates.

In addition to this, CRI has signed a distribution agreement with DICO Deutschland GmbH, a European branch of Japanese game developer DICO. This partnership will help CRI expand its sales channels in Europe and North America.

To further promote its brand internationally, CRI recently presented and exhibited at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2025 held in San Francisco, USA. The company’s Fellow, Hiroyuki Masuno, gave a presentation and showcased CRI’s technological capabilities at their booth. This allowed CRI to share insights on game development with a global audience, enhance its recognition, and increase its presence overseas.

As part of its global expansion efforts, CRI has established the Global Business Development Office and aims to increase its overseas sales ratio from 10% to 50% by 2030.

CRI is committed to delivering high-quality audio and video experiences to users worldwide and will continue to contribute to society through its “sound and video” technologies.
