Deletti and Wenea Launch 14 New EV Charging Points in Devon

Last Updated on:

14 EV chargepoints have been deployed in Devon, offering greater accessibility for local residents and supporting the switch to electric vehicles.
This milestone is part of the Deletti project’s first phase, with further installations planned to expand the network county-wide.

The Deletti project, supported by regional councils throughout Devon, seeks to make EV charging accessible for all, particularly for those without off-street parking. Wenea partnered with Torbay Council and Mid Devon District Council to deliver the initial chargepoints, with upcoming deployments planned with East Devon District Council, Teignbridge District Council, South Hams District Council, West Devon District Council, and Kenton Parish Council. This programme is part of a broader effort to link rural and urban areas while supporting Devon’s EV Charging Strategy.

Strategically located, the new chargepoints are designed to serve on-street parking needs and provide convenience for tourists, residents, and businesses across Devon. By addressing the increasing demand for EV charging, the initiative supports the county’s net-zero emissions target for 2050. The rollout includes both rapid and standard chargers, offering a range of options tailored to local charging requirements and usage patterns.

Nick Barton, Project Manager, highlighted the impact of this deployment:“Working alongside teams from across the various Devon councils we are rolling out rapid charging in areas where there has been little to none up until now, providing EV users with charging provision where it is most needed.”

Gustavo Prince, Wenea’s Director of Operations, commented:“Wenea is committed to delivering a comprehensive network of EV charging stations across Devon, with the goal of encouraging the take-up of EVs in the county and supporting the tourism industry. Devon’s EV Charging Strategy identifies that transport represents around one third of Devon’s emissions. We’re proud to deliver infrastructure that will contribute to a reduction in those emissions and make Devon’s residents more connected.”

This milestone demonstrates the growing collaboration between Wenea and Devon’s local councils. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of these new chargepoints as the project continues to expand, fostering sustainable transportation and a greener future for Devon.
