Deutsche Rück Group stays on track for profit-centric expansion

Deutsche Rück Group Reports Strong Growth in 2024 Financial Year

Düsseldorf, Germany – The Deutsche Rück Group has announced significant growth and a strengthened financial position in its 2024 financial year. Gross premiums written increased by 18.3% to €2.1 billion, while net premiums earned rose by 17.5% to €1.4 billion. This growth was seen in both international markets and the German domestic market, leading to a total security resources increase of €375.8 million to more than €3.1 billion.

The largest premium increases were seen in the liability, accident, and motor insurance business, as well as other lines of insurance. In the liability, accident, and motor insurance lines, the group’s second-largest segment, gross premiums rose by 23.9% to €485.8 million. Property insurance, which makes up more than two-thirds of Deutsche Rück Group’s gross premiums, also saw strong growth of 16.5% to €1.4 billion.

In the life insurance business, the group recorded a 9.7% increase in gross premiums to €84.2 million. This growth was supported by the expansion of the group’s life and health reinsurance business into the markets of the Middle East and North Africa.

“We are pleased to report strong and profitable growth in all business areas in 2024,” says Frank Schaar, Chief Executive Officer of the Deutsche Rück Group. “Our strategic focus on international expansion over the past years has proven successful.”

The group also generated investment income of €74.8 million and achieved a net profit after taxes of €14.5 million, up from €12.0 million in the previous year.
