Generations to come will benefit from legacy gift
Cumbrian woman’s generous gift benefits local communities for years to come
Cumbria, UK – The generosity of a kind-hearted woman from Cumbria has left a lasting impact on her community. Margaret Ewins, of Ings, Windermere, has bequeathed a significant sum of £500,000 to Cumbria Community Foundation in her will.
In honor of her charitable gift, the Community Foundation has established the Margaret Ewins Memorial Fund. This fund will be managed by the Community Foundation and will provide grants to various causes and groups in need across the county. From supporting children and young people to vulnerable older individuals, the fund will make a positive impact on the lives of many.
Caroline Adams, Development Manager at Cumbria Community Foundation, expressed gratitude for Mrs. Ewins’ generous gift. She explained that the money will be carefully invested, and grants will be made annually from the returns of the investment. Thanks to Mrs. Ewins’ thoughtful legacy, the fund will continue to support vital projects and individuals in need for many years to come.
The Margaret Ewins Memorial Fund will align with the Foundation’s grant-making priorities, which include reducing poverty, reaching potential, improving health, tackling social inequality, nurturing a sense of place, and acting on climate change. Fiona Ward, Managing Director and Solicitor at Tomson Hayton Winkley, has worked closely with the Community Foundation to ensure that Mrs. Ewins’ wishes are carried out.
Ms. Ward expressed her delight in the creation of the memorial fund, stating that it is a fitting way to honor Mrs. Ewins’ generosity and ensure her wishes are fulfilled. She also encourages others to consider leaving a legacy gift in their will and offers support and guidance on how to create a lasting impact.
Cumbria Community Foundation welcomes anyone interested in supporting local charities through a legacy gift to reach out. Options include donating to an existing fund, creating a new fund tailored to specific charitable goals, or setting up a memorial fund in honor of a loved one.
