Krombacher Brauerei Revamps Bottling Plant with Forward-Thinking Investment for the Future

Krombach Brewery Announces Over 100 Million Euro Investment in Modernization Project

Krombach, Germany – The Krombacher Brauerei, one of the largest employers in the region, has announced a major investment of over 100 million euros in the modernization of its bottling plant. The project, scheduled to be completed by 2030, is the largest and most comprehensive investment in the brewery’s long history.

The first stage of the modernization project will involve the installation of a new sorting area with a state-of-the-art sorting system and systems to optimize material flow. According to Ludger Hense, Head of Bottling at Krombacher Brauerei, this will greatly increase efficiency in the sorting process, which is crucial as breweries process a large volume of empties every day.

In addition to the sorting area, four bottling lines will also be replaced by 2026. This complex project will require meticulous planning and flexibility from all parties involved, as it will be carried out while the brewery is still in operation.

The modernization of the bottling plant is seen as a strong commitment to the future of the brewery and its diverse range of products. Manfred Schmidt, Technical Managing Director of Krombacher Brauerei, states, “Despite the challenges of modernizing while still in operation, we are dedicated to maintaining our high quality standards and our ability to deliver 100% at all times.”

The investment in modern technology and efficient systems will not only improve process control, but also create greater flexibility in production. This will allow the brewery to continue to offer a wide range of products and respond to the growing demand for variety from consumers, while still focusing on their flagship Pils.

As a family-run company with a deep respect for nature, Krombacher has been producing high-quality beers since 1803. The brewery’s commitment to sustainable growth and long-term investments also extends to its employees, ensuring job security and stability for the future.
