NARMA Launches the Agal Collection: Blending Heritage with Modernity and Sustainability

Last Updated on:

NARMA, a design studio and atelier founded by Nouf Al Rashed, made a significant debut on Monday evening with the unveiling of its first capsule collection, the Agal Collection, at a private event in London.

The brand’s name, NARMA, is derived from the Arabic words for “fire” (Nar) and “water” (Ma), representing the harmonious blend of these elements, which form the core of Nouf’s creative philosophy. This balance reflects her commitment to crafting pieces inspired by a variety of cultural and artistic sources.

Nouf’s design philosophy places great emphasis on materials, embracing the challenge of working with unconventional components to spark innovation. The Agal Collection, NARMA’s first line of womenswear, prominently features the agal’s iconic black cord, which serves as a unifying motif throughout the collection. Nouf’s designs are inclusive and accessible, moving beyond traditional styles to resonate with today’s modern audience.

Sustainability is a key focus for Nouf, who is dedicated to creating durable and ethically produced clothing. Her passion for fashion, culture, and sustainability is evident in every piece within the Agal Collection, as it weaves together these elements seamlessly.

NARMA’s founder, Nouf Al Rashed, commented: “This collection embodies a woman who is in love with playful curiosity, and is a reflection of creativity, with both nature and nurture working together.”

She added: “Women were traditionally excluded from the Agal that is worn by men, so I wanted to bring in the idea of a woman’s crown. I have aimed to share this symbol of honour with a female audience, making it more inclusive and accessible to all. I hope for all women to become part of this exciting journey as The Agal Collection continues to make its mark across the globe.”

The collection was presented at Tristan Hoare, 6 Fitzroy Square, W1T 5HJ, London. It is not simply fashion, but a celebration of heritage, innovation, and sustainable craftsmanship.
