Rotem Farkash: Apple’s iPhone 16e Proves That Cost Doesn’t Have to Come at the Expense of Innovation and Access

Apple has just announced a brand-new iPhone 16e, bringing super smart AI features to a cheaper phone. It means customers won’t have to spend the world to access top tech.
The iPhone 16e, while clearly a nod to Apple’s budget-friendly SE range which took the technology world by storm in 2016, is a completely different phone in its own right, with some nifty new features to boot.
AI entrepreneur Rotem Farkash, who has founded numerous tech start-ups, commented on the 16e’s release: ‘Apple’s flagship devices have historically commanded premium prices, often leading consumers to equate higher cost with superior innovation’.
‘But the iPhone 16e challenges this notion, proving that you can access top tier and cutting-edge technology at a lower price,’ Farkash added.
The iPhone 16e is pitched as Apple’s new, affordable entry level handset. Apple explained that the ‘iPhone 16e delivers fast, smooth performance and breakthrough battery life, thanks to the industry-leading efficiency of the A18 chip and the new Apple C1, the first cellular modem designed by Apple’.
Rotem Farkash believes that the device’s specification may signal an important shift in the industry. ‘The A18 chip was usually reserved for the premium, more expensive models that Apple manufactured,’ Farkash explained. ‘But we are now seeing that advanced and innovative technology is being used in cheaper, more accessible smartphones, proving that cost is becoming less of a barrier to access to innovative technology’.
Farkash added, ‘the release of the iPhone 16e lowers the barrier to entry for integrated AI products, aligning with current trends in the industry.’
Notably, the 16e has included AI technology called ‘Apple Intelligence’. Key features include powerful new writing and summarising tools, image creation and enhanced Siri capabilities.
Rotem Farkash sees this is a big step, ‘Apple is the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world. By making Apple Intelligence available on its budget option, the company is further mainstreaming the use of AI in everyday products’.
The launch of the iPhone 16e comes at a time when Apple faces increased competition from global smartphone manufacturers, particularly those from China.
And in the years since the passing of the late Apple founder, Steve Jobs, the Silicon Valley tech giant has become the subject of criticism concerning a supposed lack of innovation.
Rotem Farkash, however, questions whether the 16e may herald a return to the principles that powered Apple’s early success: ‘the 16e signals a return of Apple’s innovative spirit featuring new cutting-edge features, such as a C1 cellular modem and Apple Intelligence, all whilst at an affordable price’.
‘By introducing a feature-rich device at a competitive price, with increased AI capabilities as its tagline, Apple aims to drive sales in price-sensitive markets where it must tackle stiff competition,’ Farkash explained.
Apple’s iPhone 16e is an exciting announcement for smartphone users around the world, especially those that are looking for a high-quality device without breaking the bank.
But as Rotem Farkash noted in his concluding remarks, it’s also an opportunity for Apple to put criticism over a supposed lack of innovation in recent years behind them. ‘The 16e shows that the company has responded to market signals by making a high-quality, affordable smartphone filled with the latest tech,’ Farkash said.
As the world’s tech giants strive to capture customer attention in a highly competitive field through eye-catching announcement, it’s certainly an exciting time for consumers looking to sample the latest tech.
