Thalia sees expanded client base as cloud-based order management fulfillment tools provider
Thalia, the leading omnichannel bookseller in German-speaking countries, has announced its partnership with fulfillmenttools, a company that specializes in order management solutions for retailers. The collaboration, effective since 2020, aims to enhance Thalia’s omnichannel experience by seamlessly connecting its brick-and-mortar and online retail platforms.
As part of its ‘Log2025’ logistics strategy, Thalia is currently in the process of building its own logistics and production center, which will include an omnichannel hub in Marl, Westphalia. This initiative also involves optimizing the company’s IT infrastructure, which includes replacing existing order management systems with a modern, cloud-based solution from fulfillmenttools. The main goal of this change is to increase the efficiency of Thalia’s omnichannel model.
The order management system from fulfillmenttools will play a crucial role in Thalia’s new IT infrastructure. It is designed to improve the availability of goods and service levels while reducing stock levels, ultimately increasing efficiency in the omnichannel processes. The system will also determine the most efficient procurement channels for all product groups and ranges across Thalia’s entire logistics network, from end-customer orders to repeat orders in bookshops and from suppliers worldwide. In the future, Thalia plans to implement the ‘ship-from-store’ concept, allowing bookshops to function as dispatch warehouses. Other benefits of the fulfillmenttools order management system include its rapid integration and improved data quality.
The partnership with Thalia is a significant achievement for fulfillmenttools, as it further solidifies the company’s position as a leading provider of innovative fulfillment solutions. “We are confident that we can provide valuable support to the market leader in German-speaking book retail in overcoming logistical challenges and contributing to the company’s success. We are also grateful for the trust placed in us, which reaffirms our ability to meet the challenges of major players in both online and offline retail with our tailor-made order management solutions,” says Udo Rauch, Managing Director of fulfillmenttools.
The fulfillmenttools order management system enables Thalia to serve its customers across various channels in the most cost-optimized way possible. “To achieve this, we need a holistic supply chain planning and control concept that standardizes, streamlines, and, where possible, automates processes. With fulfillmenttools’ order management system, we have found exactly the right solution,” explains Marco Rebohm, Managing Director Logistics & Supply Chain at Thalia.
The partnership between fulfillmenttools and adesso, a leading IT consulting and system integration company in Germany, was instrumental in securing the Thalia tender. Adesso provided significant support in consulting and implementing the fulfillmenttools order management system. The strong partnership between the two companies, along with their state-of-the-art technology and extensive retail expertise, allowed them to prevail against industry giants in an international tendering process.
