Michael Bilokonsky is the CEO and President of Whitehorse Freight – a transportation company based out of Fort Mitchell, Kentucky.

After graduating college in 2010, Michael accepted a position at a mega logistics company. There, he received extensive industry training and his experiences over the next decade helped prepare him for a successful future in business.

Built on the foundations of honesty, integrity, dedication, and adaptability, the professionals at Whitehorse Freight work hard to cultivate long-lasting relationships with individuals and businesses. With an extensive carrier network and a wide range of freight solutions, their team of industry-leading professionals can provide the resources to keep your business moving. What do you currently do at your company?

I am the Chief Executive Officer and President of Whitehorse Freight, so I am responsible for the implementation of business strategies and I manage and oversee all daily business operations. While I am the deciding factor in corporate decisions, I also rely on my team of industry-leading professionals as I value their input and expertise.

What was the inspiration behind your business?

My professional career began in the education sector. I attended West Virginia University and obtained a degree in Physical Education. It wasn’t until after I graduated and accepted a position at a logistics company that my professional goals changed. I had always wanted to run my own business so I made the decision to shift my focus. I gained the necessary skills and experience and within time I was able to establish Whitehorse Freight.

What defines your way of doing business?

We are a very customer-centric business, and we rely mostly on the long-term professional relationships that we have established with clients. We also value the well-being of our staff. We believe in creating opportunities for both our clients and employees.

Tell us one long-term goal in your career

A long-term goal would likely be our continued expansion into other parts of the United States. We thrive on offering excellent customer service and we are available 24/7. Issues are a common occurrence in the trucking industry, so we do our best to put our best foot forward at all times.

How do you measure success?

I measure success on a number of factors. The first being that my team and I are helping to transform the logistics and transportation industry. We are both dedicated and highly adaptable. Our quotes are final, we continue working until each job is completed, and we aim to provide maximum value to our shippers and carriers. We are always searching for ways to further improve our customer satisfaction.

What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned through the course of your career?

The most valuable lesson I have learned is to always be optimistic. You will encounter a wide range of unexpected challenges in business and the only way you are going to persevere is through patience. We have been in business for over seven years now, but navigating through some of our initial issues really took a toll on my confidence. Experience changes your perspective; you just have to be willing to fight for what it is that you want.

What advice would you give to others aspiring to succeed in your field?

My best advice would be to always remain two steps ahead of the competition. Take the time to perform extensive research. See what other businesses are doing well and then find a way to be better. Success in business is all about stepping outside of the box and finding innovative solutions. Surround yourself with a team of experts and aim to change whatever industry you are looking to enter.

What are some of your favorite things to do outside of work?

I am all about leading an active lifestyle. I do my best to incorporate exercise and other forms of physical activity into my schedule. I am also a lover of motorcycles. I own a Harley and whenever I have the chance I am normally out riding. My motorcycle gives me an indescribable feeling of freedom and it’s nice to take a step back from my work to responsibilities every once in a while.

What are a few influential books you’ve read and/or websites you keep up with that you’d recommend

I recently finished The 5 AM club, by Robin Sharma. The book provides compelling insight into how we can enhance our productivity while getting the most out of our day. As an early riser, I can attest to the extensive benefits that come with starting your day early.
