WORLD number 6 Filipino golfer Yuka Saso makes her course return on Thursday in the Toto Japan Classic at the Seta Golf Course in Shiga Prefecture.

Out of action for the past three weeks, the 20-year-old Ms. Saso looks to get it going anew as she competes in the $2-million event which features the top golfers in the region.

The Filipino-Japanese golfer, who represented the Philippines in this year’s Tokyo Olympic Games, last played in early October at the Cognizant Founders Cup where she finished joint fourth place.

It will kick off what is a busy November for her on the LPGA Tour, where she will also compete at the Pelican Women’s Championship on Nov. 11-14 and the CME Group Tour Championship on Nov. 18-21, both happening in Florida.

In the Toto Classic, which will run until Nov. 7, Ms. Saso will tee off with Japanese Hinako Shibuno and veteran Momoko Ueda at 9:10 a.m. at the Seta Golf’s North course.

The year 2021 has been a banner one for Ms. Saso.

Apart from representing the country in the Olympics where she finished tied for ninth place, she won the US Women’s Open title in June and rose to a career-high number 5 in the world rankings. — Michael Angelo S. Murillo
