Brighton & Hove Homeless Charity Names Social Visionary as New Chief Executive Officer

Reverend Julio Abraham has been named the new CEO of Off The Fence Trust, a highly esteemed national charity based in Brighton & Hove.

Julio comes to the role with an impressive background in charity leadership, social enterprise and business, having worked as CEO of Derby City Mission for the past six years. During his time at the homeless charity, he increased its turnover from £250,000 to £1.3 million and extended the staff roll from three to over 30.

Julio commented on his appointment: “The City has a national reputation for care, compassion and creating futures for some of the most vulnerable people in the community. This work has inspired me over the years and I am eager to collaborate with other groups in the City to contribute my experience and passion to this task.”

The charity was founded by Reverend Paul Young and his wife Wendy in 1997, with an annual budget of just £3,000. Over the past 26 years, the charity has raised and spent £9 million to support local projects and helped more than 700 rough sleepers, 120 vulnerable women and 13,000 schoolchildren through in-school support each year.

The Board of Trustees at Off The Fence announced that Julio will begin his role on 7th August and will work alongside the founders during a transition period to ensure a managed handover for the benefit of clients, partners and funders.

Paul Young commented: “Julio shares our sense of mission. The charity is in good hands.”
