Letran Knights PBA D-League debut battle archrival San Beda

NEW head coach Rensy Bajar and Wangs Basketball @27 Striker–Letran plunge into a baptism of fire against archrival Marinerong Pilipino-San Beda in the 2023 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup today (May 9) at the Filoil EcoOil Center in San Juan.

With Mr. Bajar at the helm, the Knights make their D-League debut in the main action at 4 p.m. against the alma mater of their coach.

Mr. Bajar began his illustrious playing career in San Beda before going to the pros and later on coaching stints in Letran, Diliman College and Northport in the PBA.

He succeeded Bonnie Tan last month as the captain of the ship for the Knights, who completed a three-peat feat in the NCAA.

Mr. Bajar will be parading a young Knights unit led by holdovers Kurt Reyson, Paolo Javillonar and Kobe Monje, against also a rebuilding Red Lions spearheaded by Yukien Andrada and Jacob Cortez under second-year mentor Yuri Escueta .

“We have the utmost respect for Letran. They’re the three-peat NCAA champion for a reason. It’s a rivalry so let’s see,” said Mr. Escueta. — John Bryan Ulanday
