Spice Girls Celebrate 30 Years of Girl Power!
“Spice Girls at 30” Exhibition to Showcase Iconic Outfits at British Music Experience
Liverpool, UK – On February 7th, 2024, the British Music Experience (BME) will open its doors to a highly-anticipated exhibition celebrating the 30-year legacy of the iconic girl group, Spice Girls. Titled “Girl Power! Spice Girls at 30”, the exhibition will feature a collection of outfits worn by the group throughout their career.
The exhibition will run until September 8th, 2024, and will showcase the journey of how Sporty, Baby, Scary, Ginger, and Posh rose to fame as one of the most successful girl groups in history. The exhibition will be curated by Liz West, a renowned collector of Spice Girls memorabilia and merchandise.
West’s Guinness World Record-breaking collection includes hand-made costumes by international designers and specially commissioned pieces by the Spice Girls themselves. The collection dates back to 1996 when West, then an 11-year-old fan, became mesmerized by the group’s debut single “Wannabe.”
Director of BME, Elizabeth Koravos, expressed excitement for the exhibition, stating, “We are excited to explore the Spice Girls’ meteoric successes of the 1990s and the enthralling result. A familiar story that started with a girl band being pressurized and ‘manufactured’ by male-dominated powerful forces but were able to shake it off.”
West also shared her enthusiasm for the exhibition, stating, “Bringing my collection to Liverpool is particularly fitting as it pays homage to ‘Sporty Spice’ Melanie C, who hails from Widnes and is forever proud of her Northern heritage.”
Alongside the iconic outfits, the exhibition will feature audio-visual elements, including a stage show montage of Spice Girls hits and listening stations. The BME has also planned a season of activities to support the exhibition, including film screenings, conversations, acoustic music, and a special quiz night.
“Girl Power! Spice Girls at 30” is included with all general entry tickets to the BME, which are valid for 12 months. The exhibition will also feature on school tours and forms part of the Learning Programme. Visitors also have the opportunity to support the museum by Gift Aiding the cost of admission.

The launch night for the exhibition will take place on February 7th, 2024, from 7pm. The evening will feature live music from Spice Girls tribute band, The Spicey Girls, and the opportunity to explore the museum galleries, merch store, and Star Café & Bar.
Tickets for the launch night will go on sale on January 15th, 2024, at 10am, and are priced at £10 each.
